Baxter Needs a New Home

Baxter had a nice home with his human Mom and Dad.  He was loved and well cared for; that is until a horrible day last fall when his home caught fire.  Everyone got  out of the house, but Dad thought that Baxter was still inside.  He went back in to get his dog to safety.  Dad got burned while looking for Baxter in the burning house.  He was hospitalized for his burns and a month later, died as a result of complications of the burns and treatment for them.

Baxter's Mom moved into an apartment and he went to friends to stay while things were sorted out.  As much as his Mom loves Baxter, she does not have a suitable home or the ability to take proper care of him.  She has tried for several months to arrange things to accommodate Baxter, but it simply is not going to work out that way.

The friends that are taking care of Baxter have asked us to help find the best possible home for him.  They have dogs of their own, and although they have enjoyed having Baxter visit, it is time for him to once again have a home of  his own.  Their message to me was, "We love him dearly, and hate to have to give him up, but we have 3 dogs and not enough room or a fenced yard. We hope to find a home for him, someone who will love him and treat him as good as his Dad did and as we have."

Baxter has become a regular couch potato, house dog.  He will need a securely fenced yard and someone to love him.  He is a 2-3 year old, 52 pound Blue Tic Coonhound and Australian Shepherd mix. He has been neutered, is HW negative and on preventative, and his inoculations are up to date. He is house trained, but he loves to run outside. He has been good around his foster parents nephews, aged 11 and 13. He will bark at strangers who come by, but once they pet him, he is fine.

We are looking for a special home or reputable rescue for Baxter.  If you would like to adopt Baxter, please, fill out an adoption application and we will contact you.  If you are a rescue interested in taking Baxter into your rescue program, please e-mail us and we will contact you.

This boy is being well cared for and loved at present.  He just needs a home of  his own.
